Story
Our Sports and Social group is taking part in the 31 minutes in May challenge to raise vital funds for stroke support.
We are all stroke survivors and are part of a group in Nailsea, North Somerset.
Nailsea Stroke Sports & Social is a friendly, local club for stroke survivors and their support network. We bring survivors together through sport and social contact. We offer the opportunity for stroke survivors to partake in a range of sports and games at a local leisure centre. We get together every Monday and hone in on our co-ordination and balance skills through activities such as walking football, skittles, cricket and chipping golf to name a few. Over time we have expanded our provision by including activities such as mindfulness colouring. We have worked hard to create a safe space where stroke survivors can come together and socialise without feeling ‘different’. Most importantly, It is fully accessible to all.
May is Stroke Awareness Month. Every day in May, another 240 people will wake up to the life-changing impact of a stroke.
Mums, dads, grandparents, young people, and even children can be left unable to move, see, speak, or even swallow. It's a traumatic, life-changing event that robs survivors and their families of the life they knew.
Your support means people don’t have to face the recovery journey alone. If you are able to contribute to our cause then we would be extremely grateful. Half the money raised will go to the Stroke Association and half will come directly to our group (Nailsea Stroke Sports & Social) so that we can continue the good work we have started. 💜
Thank you for supporting us all!
