We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

Until the summer of 2018,  Rob Williams was a strong, fit, healthy Cheshire dairy farmer and very rarely needed a GP. The symptoms were simple; it could easily have been 'knackered farmer syndrome', but instead an MRI scan showed shadowing on the brain, and within a week, Robert was admitted for brain surgery to obtain a biopsy. The subsequent diagnosis was a deep brain Glioblastoma; a grade 4 tumour that is both incurable and inoperable. Robert's family came to realise what limited treatment options are available, and how underfunded brain cancer research is. The caring support given by the Brain Tumour Charity to Robert, Sarah and their three children since the diagnosis has been exceptional.

The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours. They fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours, and provide support for everyone affected by a brain tumour, and to defending the most amazing part of the human body.

This inspired the creation of Team Robster, and since 2018 the astonishing sum of £45,000 has been raised from a huge number and variety of events. The generosity shown by family, friends, colleagues, the local community and complete strangers, is breathtaking.

Sadly, on 2 January 2020, after an heroic 15 months of treatment, Rob passed away, peacefully, at home, with Sarah, Laura, Jess and Max by his side. In Rob's memory, fundraising will continue throughout 2020. In light of the Great North Run being cancelled, a team of 20 will be running the lanes of mid cheshire for the Great Robster Run, and the Annual Robster Walk, which is still planned for October 2020, will hopefully be able to take place inline with government guidelines. To keep in touch with events and developments, search 'Team Robster' on Facebook.

Rob's family would like to thank everyone, sincerely, for taking time to help raise funds for this valuable charity that has come into, and touched, all our lives.
