Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

 I am

going to walk 200 miles in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.

In July 2018
I will walk 200 miles across England to raise money for the IJF. Starting on
Robin Hoods Bay on the North Sea coast, south of Whitby, I will go over the
North York Moors, across the Yorkshire Dales and through the Lake District to
finish in St Bee’s Head on the Irish Sea.

The Injured
Jockeys Fund was the idea of founding guardian and Ex-President John Oaksey and
became a reality after the horrific accidents of Tim Brookshaw as well as just
four months later, Pady Farrell in the 1964 Grand National.

Both falls
ended in bad paralysis which ended both jockeys careers quickly. Since then the
IJF has helped over 1000 jockeys and their families. The charity has also given
more than £18M in aid of injured jockeys.

The Injured
Jockeys Fund helps any rider that has or has had a professional or amateur
licence published by the British Horseracing Authority including Apprentice,
Conditional or Point To Point jockeys.

From our
house in surrey my dad and I will drive up to Robin Hoods Bay on the 6th
of July, stay the night and walk the next day towards St Bee’s Head. The walk
is 200 miles we will also climb Helvellyn on our way and it will take us 12
days
.

All
donations will go straight to the Injured Jockeys Fund, we will cover all expenses.
I very much hope you will help me raise a little money to help the Injured
Jockeys Fund continue their great work.

Yours

Seb Griffin
