Story
We are marking Pete's first anniversary, on 5 May 2019, by walking in his footsteps from Sennen Cove, in Cornwall - where he enjoyed a short walking holiday just a few months before he died from cancer.
Pete developed a sarcoma, which is a relatively rare form of cancer accounting for just 1.3% of all cancer diagnoses annually. It formed in the soft tissue of his upper abdomen, probably in his muscle cells, and displayed no symptoms until it was very large.
Pete went into surgery to have the tumour removed - just two weeks after his diagnosis - but sadly the tumour was too entrenched and had done too much damage to his body for him to survive.
Pete remained hopeful and positive throughout his short illness despite the horror of his situation and continues to inspire all of us who knew and loved him.
His friends and family are gathering at Sennen Cove to walk, talk and remember him and to try to turn a very sad occasion - the first anniversary of his death - into a positive one with new memories to be made.
Please support us in raising money for Sarcoma UK. More research is needed to fully understand how sarcomas develop and spread and how best to diagnose and treat them.
