Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Obviously the tsunami disaster was terrible and has diverted sponsorship, but please remember that the suffering elsewhere has not stopped just because our attention is somewhere else!

I rode from Lands End to John O'Groats in just 5 days (about 200 miles a day) to raise money for the Bishop Simeon Trust to support children and their families affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

See www.TheRaceAgainstTime.com for more about the charity and the route.

The money that I raise goes to the charity and not towards the ride.

I did it! The 876 miles took me some 57 hours in total, with over 200 miles on the first day. The hardest thing for me was the lack of sleep, as we finished late and started early every day.

It was great fun and for a worthy cause. Application of funds: - Education and training for young leaders in HIV prevention costs £100 a month to reach thousands of youngsters at risk. Girls are particularly vulnerable to infection because of abuse. - To feed and care for 45 HIV+ children each month in a pre-school costs £75. - To set up a pre-school for children who are orphaned or infected with HIV costs £1,500. - Help to ensure a child stays in school, even when their parents have died, by giving £23 a month. - To support a pre-school teacher costs £100 a month. - Home based care volunteers care for up to 10 families who are affected by HIV. - Nursing and counselling, feeding and cleaning for those who are terminally ill, the volunteers receive an allowance of £45 a month. - To train a Home Based Care Team of volunteers costs £500. Every donation helps make a difference to the lives of people trapped by poverty and lack of education. Keep a child in school by donating to the Education Fund - any amount is gratefully received. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The Bishop Simeon Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. See the link to Gift Aid for more details (especially higher rate taxpayers). So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. Simon Page Simon_F_Page@hotmail.com
