The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

"In August 2021 over a period of 2 weeks my sight deteriorated to a point where I am unable to do most things I previously could. My mental health took a huge hit & a fellow visually impaired runner suggested running in August 2022. Losing my sight made me have to rely on people around me & once I opened up to the reality I felt the presence of the most amazing people I could ever meet, volunteers who give their time selflessly and encourage and challenge me. While the eye may not see - the heart feels. Doing this half marathon is my first big plan, it’s so important to me & without Terri & all those amazing volunteers at parkrun this would be impossible & without the Rock n Road team I would have never understood the beauty of running. My wish is that people with a disability can be supported to be more active, and being active has been the best remedy for my mental health.
I am in the assessment process for a Guide Dog & what this beautiful charity represents has motivated me to raise whatever I can to support their good work. I thank you so much for your support & please shout / beep, and not wave, as this way I know you are there and care" Sha. xx
