Story
Welcome to my fundraising page! I’m part of a team at the University of Exeter raising money for Hope for Children, a charity which enables vulnerable children to experience a happy childhood by improving their access to education and healthcare, and empowering their families to support themselves. I will be taking part in a 6 day trek in Peru, climbing Machu Picchu, to raise as much money as possible for Hope!
The 'Stories of Hope' section on the charity website really puts into perspective how this fundraising could positively impact the lives of children all across the world, (you can read some here: https://www.hope-for-children.org/stories-of-hope).
Hope for Children are a small, transparent charity that prioritises the needs of the people they are helping. They're currently running a project in Uganda called 'Livelihoods', in the slum community of Namuwongo. Many mothers living there are widowed or have been abandoned by their husbands, and are often struggling to make ends meet. Hope supports these women to become entrepreneurs, providing finance in the form of micro-loans and business grants, mentoring and bespoke training to give them the absolute best chance of success.
Hope for Children is not just a charity with temporary solutions, the work they do really has the power to end the cycle of poverty that is often prevalent in the communities that they help.
Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated, even by spreading the word of Hope for Children you could have a massive impact!
Thank you so, so much for your support!
