Story
Dear Family and Friends,
On 10th August 2014 I am embarking on a 100 mile bike ride and am currently training hard to finish the 100 miles (and 3000ft of climbing - 3 x The Shard!) in a respectable time.
Why would I put myself through such an ordeal? There are two reasons, the first and most important reason is that I am trying to raise £1000 for a charity called Help the Hospices in memory of my late Grandma Betty Parkinson. Betty died in September 2010 following a long illness. She was cared for in her final months and days by the East Cheshire Hospice. Thanks to their amazing care, my Grandma and many others before and after her up and down the country, are able to spend their final days in minimal discomfort, with their families by their side.
The second is that the ride starts at the Olympic stadium and makes it's way through London to the Surrey hills before heading back through Wimbledon to finish on the Mall. The roads will be closed and so this will be a unique but challenging experience. It's the London Marathon on road bikes.
Please donate what you can to help get me to my £1000 total, and if you are in London on the day, feel free to come and watch, I will even have a live feed of my position on the 100 mile route!
Kind regards
