The Woodcraft Folk are holding an International Camp in Sherwood Forest during the first 10 days of August. The theme is “co-operation”. There will be around 4000 young people taking part from all over Britain and delegations from around the world. Sheffield Woodcraft Folk have agreed to fund-raise for £10,000 to bring over a mixed gender group of young people (teenagers) to visit Sheffield and attend the camp from the “All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions – Youth Wing”: “Our main Goal is the elimination of Child Labour, Bonded Labour, Forced Labour, illiteracy and poverty from Pakistan. We are working on Human Rights, Children's Rights, Women 's Rights in our country. There are three wings: Women Wing, Youth Wing and Child Labour wing. These wings are doing work separately under the supervision of our main organisation APFUTU.” ( http://www.ifm-sei.org/c/show/63/ )
37 of us, mainly young people, successfully cycled the Coast2Coast route over 4 days of the May Day holiday weekend, camping as we went. 147 miles with over 13,000 feet of ascent into the teeth of a strong easterly wind. It was a great experience for us all but we do deserve all the sponsorship we are getting for a good cause!
But we are also looking for general donations for the Pakistan delegation in our effort to raise the £10,000 we need. Other fund-raising events are taking place - for example a gig with the Free Radicals and Funky Presidents on Friday 8th July, everyone invited, and donations from trade union branches – so please help where you can!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
