Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our Son Jay was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was just 9 years old. Since then his life and ours, changed completely.
What is Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
T1D is an auto immune disease which effects different parts of your body but mainly the pancras. Disabling the pancras it then prevents your body producing Insulin which is the chemical required for your body to break down food and transform it into energy. It was only in the 1920s that Insulin was discovered as a form of medicine to counteract T1Ds effects. Before this time not so long ago, anyone with the disease ,would lead to fatal consequences.
From Jay having to constantly check his sugar intake, to 8 needles going into his body every day, we now understand what it takes for Jay an others, to live with type 1 diabetes. We feel very passionate about helping all kids around the world with this condition. And we aim to help by raising as much money as we can to not only help manage the disease, but also help to find a cure.
Furthermore, and on a real positive note, in the last 10 years Jay has been diagnosed we have already seen massive steps in T1D technolgy all beginning from fundraised research. Charities such as the JDRF group, provide alot of the much needed funding, and from things such as glucose meters, monthly 1 to 1 patient meetings, and improved medicines all progressing each year, we can not stress enough how much every penny helps.
Here is a link of 1 exampe, of how money raised is really progressing the treatment of this condition:
