SKYDIVE POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY 31ST JANUARY 2010 @ HINTON AIRFIELD NR. BRACKLEY
Dear all
Thanks for reading my justgiving page.
Despite my dreaded fear of heights - I have decided to do a Tandem Skydive on 10th January 2010 to raise money for the fantastic "Great Ormond Street Hospital".
So why do a Tandem skydive?
My reason for doing this is quite simple. I have a very healthy, happy daughter who, unlike many children - has NOT had to visit Great Ormond Street hospital, and for this reason I am immensely grateful. The Great Ormond Street hospital need our help, for critical research, support to families of sick children under the hospital's care, new state of the art equipment and hospital re-development. http://www.gosh.org/why-we-need-your-help . You can't fail to be touched by the work this hospital do for sick children.
My daughter Grace Alexandra is now 22 months. I never took being a Mum for granted and after a one course of IVF treatment in 2007 I fell pregnant - we were so lucky. Pregnancy wasn't without it's drama's when suffering a suspected miscarriage at 10 weeks, but it was a false alarm and we went on to have Grace on 30th January 2008. Having Grace has made me realise that having children is a privilege; having them born healthy is an absolute blessing. .
So this appeal is from the bottom of my heart. Please consider a donation, no matter how small. This can be done via this justgiving site (www.justgiving.com/shirleycottam), or alternatively via email (shirleycottam@aol.co.uk) with your commitment to pledge. By doing this outrageous tandem skydive, it is my way of saying a big thank you for a beautiful daughter and to honour an amazing charity at the same time. Well done Great Ormond Street Hospital; you're simply awesome, and thank you Grace for being such a good little girl - we love you with all our heart.
Finally, a huge thanks so much to anybody prepared to sponsor me.
Wish me luck!
Shirley
