70k in May for Christian Aid

70k in May Challenge - Christian Aid · 1 May 2025 to 31 May 2025 ·
This May, I’m going to be attempting to run and walk 70k to raise money for Christian Aid. Why? Well, Christian Aid is marking 80 years of standing up for dignity, equality and justice, helping people of all faiths and none to tackle the outrage of poverty. It’s an organisation I hold very dear, and that I’ve been supporting for pretty much my whole life. The 7 years I spent working for Christian Aid in the early 2000s were transformative for my thinking and introduced me to some remarkable and lovely people.
It also feels that at a time when so much about the direction of the world is worrying and wrong, and principles of international solidarity and cooperation are increasingly being shunned, it’s something I can do to show the values that I think are truly important: seeking justice, empowering local communities, and enabling change.
It will also be a good reason for me to be a bit more active than I usually manage to be, and to catch up on a backlog of podcast listening!
My aim is to run 35k and walk 35k during the month of May, a challenge that will be stretching but hopefully not impossible. I’ve decided that for it to count towards the total, a walk or run will need to be a minimum of 5k in length.
(NB I also have a fundraising page on Facebook and while I’m periodically updating the total here, not all donations I've received are visible here)
