Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Mam/Mum died in July having been diagnosed with a brain tumour in April. As someone who seemed to defy age, I never saw her as an old person so her passing has come as a shock.

My Mam's last months were not easy. This cruel illness robbed her of  both mental and physical capacities and her independence.

The Marie Curie Hospice at Elswick became a second family as we spent many hours every day visiting, and in passing getting to know the staff and volunteers. The commitment and consistency of all staff and volunteers to support my Mam and our family was superb and we were overwhelmed with their kindness and genuine human spirit.

Help the Hospices provides the blue print for how hospices across the UK can provide the very best end of life care.

It cost £515 per day to keep my Mam in the hospice, and all of this money is funded entirely from voluntary contributions.
