MARATHON COMPLETED in 4hrs 34mins 50secs!  RACE REPORT

0-26km: Adrenaline, music on my MP3 and cool conditions combined to make the first 26km very smooth. It just felt like a long run through a beautiful city with people cheering you on....it all seemed so easy....

26km-36km: My misplaced optimism was soon exposed! All of a sudden things became very tough: the battery on my MP3 ran out (a surprisingly big deal when the music is helping you to maintain a decent rhythm) and my legs stopped taking orders from my head - this section alone seemed to last at least 3 hours...but...

36km-42.2km: ......as more and more bands and crowds of spectators started to appear and I realised that I was going to make it, the last 35 mins or so became relatively enjoyable and the relief I felt at the end of the race was enormous!
