Perhaps now more than ever, communities like yours should feel able to recognise and support those thinking of suicide. Help us deliver our work. Help us adapt to coronavirus. Help us save lives.

Story

I, along with a group of like-minded individuals known as The Chosen Ones, are taking part in a 24-hour gaming marathon, all in the name of charity during this difficult time of lockdown and uncertainty.

Starting from 8pm BST Sunday 24th May until 8pm BST Monday 25th May. We have each chosen our own charities, and many will be streaming live throughout as well (all being well, I certainly will be). Come and support throughout that time either on my Twitch channel, or on the hub

For my charity, I've chosen Grassroots Suicide Prevention. Here's why:

There is power in community. The response to coronavirus has demonstrated that. Sharing food, running errands, delivering medicine: all examples of people coming together to support those in need. But it shouldn't stop there. Perhaps now more than ever, communities like ours should feel able to recognise and support those who are thinking of killing themselves. That's where Grassroots comes in.They tell people it's OK to talk about suicide. In fact, it's lifesaving. They teach how to spot and support those among us who are at risk. They make it simple to find help by signposting to lifesaving support services. Their work gets communities talking openly and effectively about suicide. When that happens, lives are saved.

But, they need your help.

Coronavirus has brought fundraising events to a halt, which impacts their ability to deliver and develop our work. Please donate to my page today and help Grassroots adapt to coronavirus. Donate today and help us save lives.

About the campaign

Perhaps now more than ever, communities like yours should feel able to recognise and support those thinking of suicide. Help us deliver our work. Help us adapt to coronavirus. Help us save lives.

About the charity

We work to make sure nobody has to experience thoughts of suicide alone. We fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. We teach communities to recognise and support those at risk. We develop new ways for people to get lifesaving support. Together, we can prevent suicide.
