Chestnut Tree House Ragnar Relay 2019 · 21 September 2019 to 22 September 2019 ·

Team Chestnut are running 170 miles and helping children with life-shortening illnesses in Sussex live For the Now.

Story

On the 21st September I will be taking on the 170 mile Ragnar Relay challenge for Chestnut Tree House.

A team of 5 of us will be running non-stop for 30 hours, covering the full distance around the coast between Sittingbourne, in Kent and Brighton.

We will each cover more than 35 miles, with me running in the final slot, covering over 40 miles.

I run for Chestnut Tree House in memory of Amber Rooke, who was cared for by Chestnut before she passed away from Neuroblastoma before her 3rd birthday.

There are potentially 1,000 of other families with life-limited children in Sussex and Hampshire. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support.

It currently costs over £3.9million each year to provide all the care services offered by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 6p in every pound is funded by the government, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex and Hampshire.
