Story
In May 2017 the three of us are taking on Slateman; a full distance triathlon on Snowdon comprising of a 1000m open water swim, 54km cycle on the Llangollen path, and an 11km trail run on Mount Snowdon.
The charity we have selected to raise money for is the Teenage Cancer Trust. Charlotte Robbins is a teacher at Hadley Learning Community where she teachers a young girl, Morgan Murray who was given the devastating news at the age of 14 that she had stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma, more commonly known as cancer. She is now in remission and on a 5 year battle plan to be clear of this awful disease. Having seen first-hand the day to day struggle Morgan has suffered and the effect it has had on her education and social life within school we wanted to do something to help. The Teenage Cancer Trust has supported Morgan through this awful time as well thousands of other young people who show day in, day out their extraordinary courage to beat this horrific disease.
When put into context, Slateman seems like a walk in the park compared to what Morgan has suffered, however we hope it is a big enough challenge that we are able to help children around the country in their on-going battles.
We would be really grateful for your support and generosity in our quest to become slatemen (women).
