Story

Ironman Wales will be my first Ironman long distance triathlon. On the 10th of September 2017, I'll start my day in Tenby by swimming 3.8 km, then I will run one kilometre uphill from the beach to my bike and embark on a scenic 180 km tour of Pembrokeshire after which I'll finish the race by running a full marathon. It's likely to be windy and it certainly will be tough (look at how many hills there are). If I complete all this in under 17 hours, I will be called an Ironman.

Of course achieving this is not the work of just one day. All people who will start in Tenby will have trained hard to get there but training with just the aim of finishing cannot be enough. What better way to fulfil the need for more than fundraising? Every pound raised will mean so much to me and to the charities supported by the Rotary Charity Fundraisers. So you see, your help, even if it's just one pound, will encourage and motivate me along my efforts in training and racing on the way to that finish line in September. I thank warmly all donors, be assured that any amount you give will be valued as a precious gesture.

Ultimately, I'm fundraising because I know my Ironman journey will change me and I would like the steps I take, during my preparation and on race day to help change the world, even if it's just a little bit.

I chose to fundraise for the Rotary Charity Fundraisers as they support numerous charities that belong to 5 main categories:

- Children's Hospices

- Life Education Centres

- Cancer Charities

- Air Ambulance

- Services Charities

They also enable me to choose one approved charity and raise funds for them. I've decided to support the Marine Conservation Society, so half of what I raise will go to this cause.

I chose the Marine Conservation Society because oceans are our lifeblood and our life support, without them, there would be no life possible on the planet. I want to contribute to saving them so that our children can enjoy the benefits they bring.
