Cots for Tots is the special care baby charity raising money to save and transform lives at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital Bristol, and Cots for Tots House, free 'home from home' accommodation for families of babies from Bristol, the South West, South Wales and beyond.

Story

Our daughter Sophie was born 8 weeks early weighing 3lbs 3oz in Musgrove hospital, Taunton on 25th October 2016.
She was born with a hole and a blockage in her heart and her oesophagus wasn’t connected to her stomach. She was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s in Bristol. She spent the next 4 months between there and Musgrove SNICU. She had a flush of saline to wash out her oesophagus every 15-30minutes every day until she had grown big enough to fix her together at 110 days old.

The doctors, nurses and surgeons were amazing in both hospitals. Cots for Tots are a brilliant charity who gave us a room in a house a stone’s throw from Bristol hospital so we could be with Sophie all day and visit her at night.

Sophie also had successful open heart surgery in Bristol Children’s hospital in September 18. The cardiac team were tremendous and she was home 6 days later, all repaired.

We have the NHS to thank for Sophie’s life and we’d like to give a little back after taking so much!

Thank YOU so much - our incredible family and friends for helping us get through a tricky 2 years, your love and support has kept us going. Hopefully that’s it for Sophie now other than a few check ups. She has had a long journey in her short life so far. Let’s hope she becomes a doctor!

Any spare pennies will be gratefully received for these fantastic causes. Thank you.
