Story
I'm at it again....running for Crohn's and Colitis UK but this time dressed as a Superhero.....cos it's fancy.
I got diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2009. I have had 4 surgeries, 3 colonoscopies, 6 MRI's about a gazillion blood tests and far too many internal examinations for one lifetime.
Crohn's and Colitis is a very painful and overwhelming disease. Without going into too much detail, it's like your bowels have permanent tonsilitis. The symptoms are endless, like any other auto-immune disease and require a lot of attention. I'm currently in a very good patch with my Crohn's by completely limiting my diet and spending A LOT of money on holistic approaches.
I decided to get Crohn's fit and start running to help me to recover from the severe episode of anxiety, depression and OCD that I was diagnosed with last year. It took me 6 months to climb out of the hole I found myself in from the stress I have endured by living with this debilitating disease. It affects your mind as much as your body.
And I'm not alone, 7 in 1000 people get diagnosed every year. Some can't work, some live in constant pain and have multiple stays in hospitals. There is no cure, only management.
But I believe in magic and I believe we're very close to a cure but we need more money for research and support for sufferers.
Please donate to help support this charity and those directly affected.
I'm hoping I'll make it round the 10k course without a loo stop💩💩....so do me a favour and dig deep.
Many thank you's
Sophie 😘
