Story

I'm cycling from South Shields to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London on the 3rd October 2014. It is in memory of my nephew Elliott Joseph Walker who died on the 17th July last year only 10 days old.

Elliott had an extremely rare disorder called OTC deficiency; this meant he couldn't break down protein in his body, therefore converting it into ammonia. He was a fighter but this condition proved he was unable to sustain life.

The charity I am fundraising for is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC). I want to give back to the group of people who did everything they could for him and my sister Jenny's family; they showed outstanding care for Elliott while he was in their hands.  Elliott touched so many of our lives even though he was only here for a brief moment. Doing this cycle is in memory of him and to those who did so much while he was here.

I will be carrying out the cycle with a good friend of mine Sam Davis. We will be setting off from South Shields (Michael's Mum and Dad's) down to York, then in to Sheffield (mine and Jenny's Mum and Dad's), down to Northampton and finally through to Great Ormond Street Hospital London. The cycle as a whole will roughly take us 4 days in total covering an average of 84 miles a day! Phwoarrr. We will of course keep you posted with updates with the build up, training and carrying out the cycle itself.

So please dig deep and give what you can!

All my love,

UJJ x

PS Elliott's Dad Michael Walker & his friend Ben Edwards are now joining on the final day to cycle to GOSH!
