Event: Great Bristol Run, on 19 September 2021
We help LGBTQ+ people live in safety as asylum seekers. We meet basic needs, organise events, provide weekly support groups, and peer to peer support. We carry out casework to aid queer people's asylum claim based on gender and sexual orientation.

Story

The Great Bristol Run will for the first time hold the 10k and half-marathon on the same day, Sunday 19 September 2021. The Office for Students and Research England Sports and Social Club (SSC) is supporting over 20 members to take part.

As well as entering the run, the ENGIE business challenge provides us with an optional extra challenge, to compete against other businesses of equivalent size. We are entering male, female, and mixed gender teams, into the 10k and the half marathon.

We are also using the Great Run as an opportunity to raise funds for our nominated charity,
Bristol Refugee Rights, and its Pride Without Borders campaign.

Bristol Pride Without Borders helps LGBTQ+ people live in safety as asylum seekers and new refugees. They meet basic needs, organise queer friendly events, provide weekly support groups, and peer to peer support. Most importantly they carry out casework to support people's asylum claim based on gender and sexual orientation.

Please support your friends, family, and colleagues, who are keenly training to be ready for race day, and give to Bristol Refugee Rights!

About the charity

We aim to make sure no one seeking asylum in our area goes without housing, allowance, community and support. We provide basic needs from housing application to hardship payments. We also build long term solutions to empower children, young people and adults to live in safety and fulfillment.
