Story
At a time when we all have to stay at home, for some, home is NOT a safe place to be.
We started this challenge as a club to stay healthy and active during these uncertain times, and in all honesty it has been a lifeline and a blessing with 19 members taking part. We have been walking, running, cycling and rowing(machine) our way around the mainland coastal perimeter of the UK(17,819km). This lead us as a club to do something to help those in our local community who are affected most severely by lockdown and our members chose FWA.
Factors such as enforced contact between partners, women feeling trapped and unable to leave, increased drinking at home, complications over child contact arrangements and reduced access to normal support routes can all lead to an increase in domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Donations to Fife Women’s Aid help to provide additional food, clothing; assistance with fuel payments and help with travel to enable women and children get to safe refuge accommodation.
During this pandemic there are many fundraising effort going to worth while causes but this is a cause that is directly effected by Covid-19 and we as a community rowing club want to support and raise awareness for an extremely worthy cause.
‘On behalf of Fife Women’s Aid, I would like to thank everyone at the club for their fundraising efforts. It really makes a big difference to the families we are supporting.'
Every single penny goes to this local vital charity. Every Kilometre we travel and every penny we raise will help!
