Fundraising for St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice
Story
Mrs Draper began Fundraising for St Luke’s in September when St Maries Primary School was asked to put together a team of runners for The Sheffield 10km Run. Faye thought she'd be amongst a gang of enthusiastic joggers but alas after a catalogue of injuries (& excuses!) from staff across school Mrs D found herself in a team of 1! She ran the local 10km on 24th September in a PB time of 58 minutes and with great support from friends, family & staff at St Marie’s raised a brilliant 560 pounds for St Luke’s.
St Luke's Hospice is a charity Mrs Draper is passionate about having lost her father earlier in the year she knows first hand how vital the support is that Hospice's provide for patients and their love ones. Therefore she’s continued running and raising cash for this great local cause.
Faye’s now ran two more races including her first ever half marathon in Worksop on 29th October in 2 hours 13mins, which is fab achievement having only just taken up running & recently returning from maternity leave.
It costs £1,029 an hour to run all of St Luke’s services. This includes their in-patient centre, team of nurses out in the community, acute therapies like specialist physiotherapy, bereavement services and more – All completely free of charge for Sheffield people at a time when they need us the most.
Mrs Draper has now set this as her new target and has signed up to The Percy Pud run in December. Please sponsor her to help her reach this new target by the end of the year.
