Story
In a ridiculous bid to regain some modicum of fitness lost this year, I'd like to cover a virtual distance of 847 miles using a combination of cycling and running - the traditional distance from Lands End to John O Groats. For Advent. Yeah...sounded a good idea a few weeks back over a few drinks!
So on the 1st of December I will be completing a 10km run (outside) and 30 miles on Zwift using my indoor bike trainer. I've then got to do this every day until Christmas Day. Lucky me!
Clearly the Pandemic we are living through is affecting different folk in a whole host of ways, be that mentally, physically, financially etc. Mummy's Star have been affected significantly in a number of ways:
- Two women a day on average are diagnosed with cancer around pregnancy. That's 1 in every 100 pregnancies.
- Mumm's Star have lost approximately 41% of their income this year due to Covid related issues.
- On top of this, Mummy's Star have trebled the support that they offer, due to the intensity of Covid on anxiety and uncertainty around treatments and surgery. More women have reached out and benefitted from the support Mummy's Star offers as a result.
- Mumm's Star have supported nearly 1000 women around the UK & Ireland to date since 2013.
I appreciate that we are in testing times financially, however if folk could dig deep it will be hugely appreciated!
Mummy's Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to supporting pregnancy through cancer and beyond. Your donation means that women diagnosed with any cancer during pregnancy or within a year of a birth are able to reach Mummy's Star and the specialised support they offer. They help families to meet others in a similar position, offer small grants to relieve some financial burden, give support to partners and the wider family, promote awareness and support research. Thank you!
