London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Charlie was the apple of my eye and not a day goes by where I do not feel the devastating effects of her loss.
She was an amazing little girl who had to endure so much in such a short life time, but always managed a cheeky smile. Charlie could lift the mood of a room in a heartbeat, even if it was in intensive care!
Leigh’s Syndrome is a life limiting neurological degenerative disease which in Charlie’s case robbed her of skills such; speech, swallow and even the ability to sit unaided.
I feel closer to her when I’m out running and it has been a huge part of managing my grief.
This October I will be taking on The London Marathon in memory of my darling baby girl. Finally feeling mentally and physically ready to start my personal contribution to The Lily Foundation's fight to finding a cure for all Mitochondrial Diseases (including Leigh’s). I am running in Charlie’s memory, I know my little guardian angel will be with me every step of the way, like she is in all moments of my life. I have chosen to run for The Lily Foundation who have helped support and guide us through the last few years and to who we owe so much.
