Let's start with a story.
October 19th 2014
Adam and I decide to go into Birmingham. It's just before lunchtime and we find ourselves stuck in traffic in Digbeth. Confused, we continue to queue until we see a sign declaring "Great Birmingham Run - Follow diversions". It took me over an hour to find a car park I could get to and actually park. Then I didn't have change for the meter and... Anyway, I digress. I was ticked off and when I got into the city centre I started seeing the finishers. They looked shattered but pleased with themselves.
"I could do that" I said to Adam. He laughed. "It can't be that hard. I run. I could do it." He laughed again and we agreed that I was just being silly because of the stressful journey.
It stayed with me though, the idea that I could do it if I wanted to. I like running and I love a challenge. That's why, when I received an email offering me a place to run for the stroke association, I snapped it up.
Adam's nan had a stroke just after we started going out and it's been a hard road to recovery. I'm hoping that the money I raise will help raise awareness of stroke symptoms and also further research into what causes them and how they can be treated and prevented. If you've made it this far through my garble, thank you! Now please give whatever you can so that I can reach my goal :)
