Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For the second year running I'm planning to ride the CFC sportive, the 130 mile route, on Sunday May 26th.
I've had my own brushes with cancer, and still feel that it was harder on my wife and children than it was for me. As a parent I can't imagine how stressful and heart rending it must be to deal with the suffering of your own children whilst they deal with cancer (or any serious illness for that matter). CFC aims to help these children by giving them the gift of mobility and exercise, via the humble bicycle. There is plenty of evidence that improved fitness aids recovery before, during and after treatment, something I firmly believe through personal experience.
So as a cyclist myself, I'm delighted to help this wonderful charity with a bit of fundraising. I'm not making any grand claims about what I'm doing, it's simply a long bike ride; not easy but also not life-changingly difficult, yet still a splendid mast from which to hoist my fundraising flag. If you feel the urge, please chip in. Any donation, no matter how small or large, will be much appreciated by me and CFC and, most of all, the poorly children and their families.
