The National Brain Appeal has committed to raise £600,000 to create a new Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Programme (ICAP) at Queen Square.

Story

We sadly lost Steve on Sunday 28th May, 20 months after a major stroke which unfortunately affected his speech. This was hugely frustrating for him and impacted his life. We can't help wondering that if there was better and prolonged post speech therapy care, Steve might have had a better chance of recovering his speech. One of the current appeals funded by the National Brain Appeal is to transform the way aphasia is treated by generating a 'proof of concept' model and sufficient outcome data to take to NHS England, in the hope of achieving longer term funding for stroke victims.
