Gold Geese are a small charity caring for under 18s fighting cancer. "We fly together" to support Gold Families through their childhood cancer diagnosis and treatments. We raise awareness, provide gifts, support, days out or family memories and encourage blood/bone marrow donors.

Story

Two very special teenage girls have inspired this run.

Lillie Cotgrove aged 13 had the genius idea to set up a Facebook page, called The One Pound Warriors. Her hope was to inspire 300,000 people to give £1 to raise money for her best friend also called Lily.

Lily Whythe had a rare and and usually fatal brain tumour. The hope was to raise £300,000 to pay for experimental treatment in the US. The general public, especially the local community have been outstanding in their support. Celebrities such as, Rachel Riley, Alfie Allen, Steven Gerrard, Jonathan Ross also pledged support to help Lily.

It is with great Sadness we just recently learnt the devastating news Lily Whythe passed away. My heart goes out to Lily’s family & friends.
Lily's passing has given me even more resolve and determination to train hard and run faster.

I have chosen to donate to this amazing charity! GOLD GEESE. The name is poignant as;

1) GOLD is the childhood cancer awareness colour. 2) GEESE are strong animals that travel huge distances together. They support one another. They fly together to conserve energy. They will help the sick, injured members within the gaggle.

Geese are powerful Birds !! . Exactly the inspiration needed, when it comes to fighting cancer!!

I am going cross the finish line, in honour of Lily. The plan is to raise as much money as possible for GOLD GEESE.

Let's Stand Up To Cancer
Let's keep the fight going.

RIP Lily W 🖤💕

I have decided to run the London Marathon once again!! The last time was back in 2009, at 34 yrs of age so 12 years on, my challenge is to run near to just over 4 hours.

After a very difficult 18 months for everyone, training resumes and only 5 weeks in training, 7 weeks to go before the big day.

Thank you for reading and all your support is truly appreciated!!!
