St Cuthbert’s Hospice provides specialist care to people with life-limiting illnesses, people approaching the end of life and the bereaved. We make no charge for our services, ensuring Hospice care is available to everyone. It costs over £2 million each year to keep St Cuthbert's Hospice running.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Starting on Friday 21st June, myself and fellow Durham City Rugby Club members, Gary Adamson Mark Berriman, Mike Hay, Mark Knight, Duncan Noble and Alex Rae will be joined by Ed Todd and Barry Wilkinson in attempting to walk, non stop, a distance of 170 miles, around the County Durham boundary following a route called The Durham Round.

We’re raising money for St. Cuthbert's Hospice, a charity based in our home town of Durham, who provide specialist palliative and end of life care to all those affected by life-limiting illnesses.

Starting at the hospice, we’re travelling anti-clockwise North to Stanley, West to Harwood, South to Girsby and East to the coast at Crimdon Dene. We’re hoping to complete the loop in around 50 hours, two teams of four, interchanging every four hours, resting and eating in our support vehicle whilst following the walking team.

Statistics:
• Total distance: 170 miles
• Highest elevation: 2,215 ft (675m)
• Lowest elevation: 0 (sea level)
• Total elevation: 15492 ft (4,722m)

Sponsors:
• Team shirts supplied by Customise it Now
• Food and Water supplied by Tesco
• Camper Van supplied by Team Cycles

We’re due to finish sometime on morning of Sunday 23rd June back at Cuths Hospice, hopefully with a cold beer waiting!

Thanks in advance for your support.
