We are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Greenpeace in memory of our incredible Mum, Tina Stevens. Mum died on March 26th, only a few weeks after being diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. She faced those weeks with grace and strength, with love for those close to her and of our beautiful planet.

Greenpeace is a charity that was very near Mum's heart. She supported it since she was our age and a 70s hippy! More recently in 2009 she went to The Wave March campaigning against climate change, and in November 2011 Mum was very happy to climb abroad the new Rainbow Warrior ship which she donated towards the construction of. Mum even specified for donations in her memory to go to Greenpeace. She really appreciated the natural world and its beauty, and was very aware of the danger of the ugly side of humanity destroying it.

We are personally so grateful that Greenpeace exists. They do so much; they are protecting the Amazon rainforest, defending oceans from pollution, saving the Artic from climate change and oil drilling, working for peace and disarment. If you are not aware of their numerous causes, they have a fantastic website.

Please donate some money to support this wonderful charity which we believe is helping make a difference all over the world. They can only carry out their work from donations.

Mum was always a source of great inspiration to us; giving and teaching all the time, and in death her message is clearer than ever.

In this half marathon we feel we will be adding to the good. We also have not done a long distance run before so will probably be adding to our swearing levels too. In a fun, realisive way. In a "darn, son of a gun, cheese and rice, it hurts but it's all worth it" kind of way! ;)
