Mum passed away on the 24th March in St Ann's Hospice after a very short battle with cancer.
After spending 3 weeks in hospital, where we received Mums devastating diagnosis, she went to St Ann's at her request. 10 years previous, Dad spent his final days being cared for at St Ann's so Mum knew she would not only be safe there, but we would be looked after too.
Over the 17 days that Mum was there, I saw and experienced some horrific things, all of which the St Ann's staff took in their stride. They truly are the most wonderful people from the tea ladies, to the care staff, to the consultants.
St Ann's Hospice operates as a charity, requiring over £20,000 per day in donations just to function!
The dilapidated building is 150 years old and is becoming increasingly more difficult to use adequately for patients. Plans are underway for a new, state of the art building, however, a further 2 million pounds is required to get the project started. It would be wonderful if we could be a small part of that and help to raise much needed funds in honour of Mum.
Myself, Mark and Ian are forever grateful to St Ann's Hospice and each and every one of the amazing staff.
