We support, research and campaign to help people affected by coeliac disease.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On Sunday July 12th 2009 at 9:35am, the team (including Shane, Scott, my dad Steve, Richard and Paul), will be running The British 10k London Run 2009.

One of my brothers, Shane, was diagnosed with Coeliac diesease about 3 years ago, and as such we will be running in aid of Coeliac, the only charity in the UK to support people like Shane.

Coeliac diesease is an autoimmune disease, where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues.

In people with coeliac disease this immune reaction is triggered by gluten, a collective name for a type of protein found in the cereals wheat, rye and barley. A few people are also sensitive to oats. Essentially this limits such people to a gluten-free diet which if you look around the foods we all eat on a daily basis, is pretty hard to come by.

We are very grateful for any dontations you can make to improve life for people with this condition, which currently affects 1 in 100 people.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Coeliac UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support
