David's page in memory of Andrew & Shirley Stow

David Stow is raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice (Crawley)
In memory of Andrew (Andy) Stow
We’re here for people requiring specialist end of life care in West Sussex and East Surrey, in our hospice or out in the community. Our care is only possible thanks to our local community who kindly donate and volunteer. Your incredible support means we can care for around 2,000 people every year.

Story

Thank you for wanting to donate to support St Catherine's in memory of Andrew & Shirley.

Andrew was diagnosed in November 2007 with what was believed to be germ cell cancer. Despite extensive chemotherapy at St Bart's Hospital in London and further treatement at the Royal London Hospital he passed away in July 2009.

Shirley was diagnosed with melanoma in the spring of 2021 and after initial surgery received Targeted Therapy treatment which appeared to control her disease until early in December 2022. In just 5 weeks from then melanoma cells metastasized to her brain and she passed away early in January 2023.

Throughout their final weeks both Andrew & Shirley were supported by the incredible staff at St Catherine's who kept both of them safe and comfortable.

No family should have to go through what we have been through, but until there is a cure for the terrible disease that is cancer, St Catherine's will continue to play an important part in providing comfort and reassurance for patients and their families.  They need our continued support so please give as generously as you can so somewhere another Andrew and another Shirley can be supported as your friends, Andrew and Shirley were.

Thank you.
