Story
The family of Sue Baker (Downing), motoring journalist and ex Top Gear presenter have set this page up to raise funds for the MNDA in her memory.
Sue lived the last three or so years of her life with this debilitating disease. She joked that of all the dreadful diseases in existence it was typical that she would be diagnosed with something which included the word Motor.
Sue was a tour de force, and ahead of her times in many ways. She was a talented motoring journalist, a charismatic TV presenter, a lover of animals and nature and a feminist. She was a loving mother to Ian and Hannah, proud grandmother of Tom and George , and cherished sister of Rita. She was a kind friend and generous mentor. Everyone who knew her loved her.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Six people per day are diagnosed with MND in the UK. It affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. And sadly kills around 2,200 people per year.
MND research is underfunded and currently there is no cure for the disease.
The MNDA were hugely supportive to Sue over the last 3 or so years, so we would like to offer them our support in return, and we are extremely grateful to anyone else who also wishes to do so.
