We rehome commercial laying hens to make a difference to hen welfare

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My name is Sue and I have been a volunteer with the British Hen Welfare Trust for about five years. On the 5th of May I shall be jumping from a plane at 15,000ft strapped tightly to my instructor. In tandem we will freefall for 60 seconds to 5,000ft when the parachute will be opened....hopefully?

The reason for my madness is that I want to help raise funds and awareness of caged birds so that BHWT can continue to rehome hens normally slaughtered at just 18 months. I have seen the dreadful way some chickens are kept behind closed doors in cages their entire life. No sunlight, no fresh air, no natural ground to peck and scratch on and barely enough room to stretch their wings. It's great to be able to give these girls a second chance and as anyone who has rehomed them will tell you, they are just so rewarding to keep. As a bonus they will in their new found freedom continue to lay lovely fresh eggs. One hundred percent of your donation will go directly to BHWT. This will also enable them to continue educating the public and the egg industry so that hopefully one day caged birds will be a thing of the past. Please give generously............it's all for the girls. Thank you so much.

Just so I won't forget my experience (as if I would!) there will be a cameraman jumping with us so there will be film footage available to everyone once the skydive has completed...... just to prove that I DID IT!
