AID Dallas volunteers are running to raise funds to support their long-term partner Jan Swasthya Sahyog to improve maternal and child health services in rural Chattisgarh, India.

Story

Despite being in the twenty-first century, maternal and child mortality remain unacceptably high in much of rural India, with particularly low coverage of ante and postnatal care in forest and forest-fringe areas.  The maternal mortality ratio in Chhattisgarh is much higher than the national average and likewise, the infant mortality rate is 46 per 1,000 live births, as compared to the country's mean of 40.

AID Dallas volunteers are partnering with our long-term partner, Jan Swasthya Sahyog in rural Chattisgarh who have taken action to improve maternal and child health services in the region and started antenatal care (ANC) clinics in six different villages in the Bilaspur district.  The ANC clinics help with the following:

1. Identify high-risk pregnancy

2. Ensure early registration of pregnancy

3. Promote safe and healthy delivery

4. Prevent ante, intra, and post natal complications

Please donate generously. We are hoping to raise $20K for this project from AID Dallas!
