Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I ran the Glasgow 10k on Sunday 4th September dressed as Superman with my Super Sister Lindsay and my very own Super Dad, Dougie to raise awareness for Fathers rights.
This year to raise money for Families need Fathers Scotland http://www.fnfscotland.org.uk/ on September 2nd 2012 I am doing the same (Minus the cape) with hope of beating my time and donation total.
I am one of thousands of Single Fathers out there that care and need to be part of their child's life. Lily, this is for you! xx
Every child should grow up knowing that both their parents love them. They have the right to feel loved, cared for and valued by their fathers. If we cut fathers out then we deprive their children of that knowledge and emotional security in their lives. I want Lily to grow up feeling confident and secure; knowing that she is important to me, knowing that I’ve made every effort to be there for her.
I’m not out to question or cause conflict over any maternal role or responsibility. Relationships between adults fail for all sorts of reasons, but the relationship between parents and their children endures, and should continue. Children need both of their parents. I simply want to raise awareness and remind people that the paternal role is also important, valuable and necessary.
Please support my efforts on behalf of Families Need Fathers Scotland. I hope that it demonstrates my commitment to Lily and to raising awareness that men, such as myself, want to be there for their children.
I will continue with my running & charity work in different forms so watch out, there is much more to come from this SuperDad.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please be a star, dig deep and donate now.
Thank you,
Martin Johnstone
