Story

Surrey Walking Challenge

A group of us from Allen & Overy will be taking on a challenge of walking 11.2 miles (18km) in Surrey taking on Leith Hill with the total ascent of 1,060 metres.

Please donate to our fundraising efforts in support of the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

We are gravely concerned about the desperate humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The intensification of fighting in Ukraine has brought essential services to a halt, created huge upheaval, loss of life, and separated families.

According to the UNHCR, over 3 million people have left Ukraine and millions more are trapped in appalling conditions.

The situation is incredibly tense, dangerous, and distressing. We need to get critical, life-saving aid and warm clothes to people as soon as possible.

The Red Cross’ priority now is to assist those most in need by:

  • Providing food, warm clothing and other aid to around 8,000 people sheltering in metro stations.
  • Providing first aid training for 1,000 people in metro stations and bomb shelters and supporting fire fighters, medical and civil protection units.
  • Taking people to hospital, transporting medical supplies and helping at blood donation points.
  • Supporting hospitals and primary healthcare facilities with medicines and medical equipment.
  • Helping families to stay in contact, and educating people on international humanitarian law, and on risks of explosives
  • Repairing vital infrastructure such as water stations supplying over 1 million people.
