Story
This year I'm taking part in a series of events/activities in order to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research. A very good friend of mine successfully had a tumour removed in January this year, however not everyone is so lucky.
Brain tumour research is largely underfunded in the UK, receiving less than 2% of all cancer research funding. Yet research is vital to improve treatments and diagnosis for the thousands of people diagnosed with a brain tumour each year, ultimately saving lives and improving quality of life.
My events this year are (so far!)
The Mighty Deerstalker (9 mile night run involving huge hills, darkness, freezing cold rivers and other nasty stuff!) - completed in March
The Inverness Half Marathon (first half, no more booked as yet!) - completed in March
Climbing Ben Nevis (highest mountain in the UK) - completed in April
Tough Mudder (11 ish mile obstacle course with lots and lots of mud!) - this weekend!!
Total Warrior (similar to above, course and obstacles seem tougher, but to add and extra challenge I'm doing this 2 days in a row. 10k on the Saturday, same again on Sunday with a 4 mile brutal fell run added on) - August
Survival of the Fittest - 10k obstacle course October
I'm also contemplating The Scottish Half Marathon and/or Pedal for Scotland, which are Sat/Sunday on the same weekend. Not too sure my legs would approve of this though!
