We tackle poverty with practical assistance to fight disadvantage

Story

This year, like last, we are holding our Activity weekend for families in Chelmsford who otherwise wouldn't have a holiday and often have limited fun outings during the summer holidays. We hope that by giving these children opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have helps to build confidence, resilience and gives them better life chances as well as having a lot of fun!

The weekend away is at a Scout activity site where we are able to take part in lots of activities. Last year we went kayking, standup paddleboarding, did low/high ropes, zip lining, archery, human table football, bushcraft, pond dipping and lots more. The weekend is not only an opportunity for the children but gave the parents a chance to meet other parents in a similar situation - many of these friendships have continued.

We are also holding a Family fun day this year, which we will offer families donkey rides, bounce castles, ice cream van, craft, games and lots of fun! All this is provided as a free day out to those who might otherwise feel excluded by cost from many Fun days.

We would really appreciate your support in funding these activities.
