THE OPERA DIVA'S FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

My challenge is to raise at least £3000 for Sentebale by Christmas 2011. We are only half way there yet, so please help me to make this happen. It doesn't matter how much or how little you give, everything is greatly appreciated and most of all needed. Please gift aid if you are a British tax payer. So far I have been challenged to accompany myself on the ukulele whilst singing the Bach/Gounod ‘Ave Maria’.  Another challenge was to be a live, or should that be living, Wedding Present. I was also challenged to do a 10 hour round trip from Kent to Norfolk in one day to sing one song at a birthday party accompanied on the ukulele by the challenger.

 

My most recent challenge was to sing a staged version of Frauenliebe und Leben by Schuman on Fitzroy Square. A lot of the unsuspecting lunchers donated generously as a lot of colleagues who came to see the performance.  This event raised over £650!

 

I also decided to challenge myself and therefore I joined the Sentebale team at the London Marathon 2011. Everyone who knows me, knows I hate running. I only did it because I really wanted to support this charity. Due to an injury a few weeks earlier, I was forced to walk nearly all of the last third. Still, I finished in just over 5 hours (official time 05:00:50).

I have auctioned off a few love songs in Kent and Berkshire and raised a total of £170. A warm thank you goes to Glory Peal, Scarlet Blush and Joining Hands for letting me high-jack their events!

Don’t forget YOU can set me operatic challenges as well, like standing on my head while singing the Queen of the Night (this challenge is still available – as the lady who said she would pay good money for it, hasn’t paid up!). I will do my most to full-fill your challenge as long as the monetary incentive is big enough.  As I am now the proud owner of a Roland Street Cube (which I got £20.- cheaper than advertised in support of Sentebale), I can sing at a party near you … just challenge me!
