This year I will be running the Virtual London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October, in memory of my Father, Denis Courtney.

When I knew I had an opportunity to run the marathon I asked him which charity I should raise money for. Without hesitation he said Dorothy House Hospice.

The Community Palliative Care team from Dorothy House looked after him, and supported my mother, Ella, in his last few months. Which meant that he was able to die peacefully at home, in his own bed, on 8th May 2021.

I will think of him every step of that 26.2 miles, remembering what an amazing man, and father he was. In the knowledge that the money I raise will help others receive the care they need at the end of their lives.
