As a family this disease has taken my Nan, Auntie and now my lovely mum is living with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. Seeing my mum deteriorate from this disease from the early age of 64yrs onwards has been utterly heartbreaking, not knowing her grandchildren, or her children’s names to no longer being able to care for herself, slowly watching as this disease takes hold of her and take our mum away is something I’ve not been able to come to terms with yet. This disease cruelly strips away the person they once were and we battle with loss and grief as our lives have been changed with Dementia. 

That is why I am taking on the challenge of Trek26 were I will walk 26 miles in the Peak District on 12th August. I hope  to raise money to help fund  research to hopefully finding a cure one day for this disease and to help support people devastated by dementia.
