In February 2010 the charity MAG
are organising a cycle challenge from Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in
Vietnam to the World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat in Cambodia
It will be the experience of a
lifetime and we aim to have fun. So no bleating about having to get fit – we
are exceedingly fit already! No boasting about having to cycle in the hottest
place on earth – in Cambodia February average temperatures are only 90º with
90% humidity, similar to that here in England! The boys cycled 245 miles last
year on tarmac; we are doing 290 in 5 days on dirt roads.
But whilst we are having fun we
will be thinking of the 5,000 Cambodian men, women and children who have been
maimed or killed since 2001 by landmines and other such weapons left behind
after decades of conflict. MAG play a huge role in both Vietnam and Cambodia
helping to clear the literally millions of landmines. They need our help and
yours. We are paying for all our expenses so you know that every penny you give
will go to this most excellent charity.
