Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

On July 13th, the three of us (Alan Webb, Frank Jefferson, John Butterworth) started a cycle tour from Bury to both its twin towns in France - Tulle and Angouleme. We had the backing of Bury Metro Community Twinning Association.  We have now returned home safely having successfully completed the event.  Setting off from Bury Town Hall at 6am we cycled across to Hull to board the ferry to Zeebrugge. We then rode through Belgium and into France arriving in Tulle (in the Correze department) after eight days of cycling.  We stayed as guests of Tulle cyclists for two nights prior to cycling for another two days to Angouleme.

We had dry weather all the way getting progressively hotter as we moved south.  We had some headwinds to cope with, but no punctures or mechanical problems.  The total distance ridden was 752 miles (1210km).  We also had to ride back from Angouleme to Limoges airport adding on a further 80 miles.

Thank you to those who have donated so far.  There's still time to sponsor us. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Derian House Childrens Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  So please sponsor us now.

You can sponsor us in the traditional way if you wish. Just email butterworth.john@talk21.com detailing the amount you wish to pledge and give your home address or telephone number so that we can contact you.

Many thanks for your support.

Alan, Frank and John
