We raise funds for cancer research to improve cancer survival

Story

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m Julia Wild and I was unfortunate to be diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in 2009 when I was 51.  I have always admired the extraordinary people who raise so much money for charities that are dear to them.  Recent pertinent circumstances have coincided to provide the ideal opportunity for my family to take part in our own sponsored events, helping to raise funds for a new charity particularly significant to us.

I have been a patient of Professor Neville Davidson for nearly eight years and have benefited from the continuous treatment he and his team have given me, always with care, compassion and positivity.  Managing the disease and enjoying a good quality of life is especially important, and it could not happen without dedicated and focused research into breakthrough therapies.  Being positive is intrinsic to well-being. To me this comes from knowing that research will be ongoing - it is helping me now and will help many, many others in the future.  The  Inspire Cancer Research Foundation has been launched recently by Professor Davidson to do just that.

“TeamWildandFriends” are kicking things off in 2017 with a couple of physical challenges: climbing and running.  Beth was successful in the 2017 London Marathon ballot and Sam, who is currently volunteering with his wife in Tanzania, will climb Mount Kilimanjaro.  By undertaking these two challenging activities Sam and Beth are aiming to raise £5000 to fund a Mini Grant for the Inspire Cancer Research Foundation.

Hopefully this will just be the beginning.  Other family members have plans for future events during 2017, notably Kate!
