Story

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

The race was cancelled at the last minute due to flooding.... so I decided to run the brand new Savaridas Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon. From our house to Housesteads, which according to Sarah's trusty piece of string and a map is the right distance! It took 3hrs to brave the wind, rain, ankle deep mud, steep hills and crazy cows/bulls! Met by a very soggy family who discovered that the Wall is a bit of a hike from Houseteads car park!

I'm running the Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon for Pete's Pancreas Project on 24th June 2012.

Pete Dowen, whom is the dad of a friend and colleague, was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer within a month of his retirement, aged 62.

Pancreatic cancer is a devastating illness. There is limited research that concerns the rare, acinar cell type or pancreatic cancer that Pete Dowen has. Therefore, the doctor's that are looking after Pete have very little information to make a reasoned judgement on the best possible treatment.

The money raised for Pete's Pancreas Project will help to improve the treatment of future patient's that are diagnosed with acinar type pancreatic cancer by funding a specific research project dedicated to this rare type of cancer.

For further information on Pete's Pancreas Project please visit the following webpage: http://www.petespancreasproject.co.uk/

I'm led to believe that the Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon is a rather tough course with nearly two-thirds of the course off road. For more info see: http://born4running.co.uk/hadrianhalf/
