My sister Laurie was diagnosed with MS over 10 years ago now and to be honest, if you didn’t know what was really going on, you’d probably wonder what the fuss was about!  During the last decade, rather than bemoan her luck, her outward attitude has been to look on the bright side, to joke, raise awareness and to fundraise. She’s been awesome at this.

Particularly her May the 4th Star Wars Day events for MS Society. She has often made it her mission, despite poor health and feeling burdened and overwhelmed by stress, to make these events successful. And they always are. Or were. It’s been a few years since the last one. It takes a lot out of her and the truth is not that she can’t do this on her own (those who know her would advise caution at such absurdity) but that she shouldn’t do it on her own.

So this year I’m doing the leg work (literally) to allow Laurie to continue her fundraising for MS. 

Running a marathon or donating £20 is hard but it’s not living a life with ever declining health and the weight of that reality on your mind and what that means for your future. That’s beyond hard. That’s unacceptable. People shouldn’t have to suffer that in an age where we can change so many things for the better. My little sister deserves to live her life fully and without her own immune system slowly destroying her nervous system.

If you’ve read the news recently you’ll maybe know how close doctors feel to being able to treat this. I hope all it needs is a little push in the right direction. Please help me help Laurie with fundraising and, more importantly, help her and the 100, 000 like her in Britain to be rid of this affliction.
